Hey, friends, listeners, fans of Patrick and his Evil Kidneys, and other delightful humans:
Do you love chocolate? Do you know someone who loves chocolate?
Do you want to help a small businessperson plot her next step in global domination?
Do you want to help Patrick maintain his quality of life?
THEN THIS DEAL IS FOR YOU.
One of the new products that will be rolling out for Polidori Chocolates in the fall is Brownies with Ganache Filling. These will be delicious, fudgy, chewy, high-quality brownies made from scratch, stuffed with the same filling as we use for our truffles. If you’ve had the truffles and/or the marshmallows we make, you can imagine how good our ganache-filled brownies are! (In the interest of full disclosure: That’s a picture I stole from someone else’s website. But they look just like that.)
I hadn’t planned to test-market these yet, but here’s the thing: Some more of Patrick’s medical bills have come home to roost, and we’re raising funds for his surgery to start peritoneal dialysis at home (if you want to know what that is, click this. It’s fascinating, if a little weird.) Plus, having just moved to a new apartment with the mountain of costs associated with that, we’re not exactly awash in greenbacks.
As for the brownies themselves — I want to know if there are any changes in the product people would like to see, and I have no idea how well brownies will ship in warm weather — so I’m looking for as many
guinea pigs Brownie Beta Testers as possible!
(NOTE: To manage production and shipping, I’ll only be taking orders through the evening of Friday, August 2nd.)
YOU WILL RECEIVE:
Four (4) very large brownies, approx. 3.5 x 3.5 inches – each one is big enough to share! (Essentially, this is a 1-pound truffle box packed with four huge brownies.)
The brownies are available in three different flavors, from the Seven Deadly Sins truffle collection:
LUST: The poet Sylvia Plath once observed, “If they substituted the word ‘Lust’ for ‘Love’ in the popular songs it would come nearer the truth.” So how can lust be so bad? Our wickedly scrumptious Lust ganache combines the essence of pomegranate (thought to be the true fruit with which Eve tempted Adam) and sweet-tart dried Bing cherries.
GREED: In the movie Wall Street, stock broker Gordon Gekko pronounced, “Greed is good.” We’ll go further than that – greed is positively delicious. Our combination dark/milk chocolate ganache is studded with Valrhona cocoa nibs, and spiked with chocolate liqueur. Because too much is never enough.
WRATH: Rage, rage against the dying of the light … and your boss, the cable company, drivers who don’t know how to merge, or anything else that annoys you. Because anger is passion, and passion is magnificent. Our Wrath truffle burns with the delectable intensity of three different chiles, plus clove, cinnamon and ginger – spicy, but you can take it.
Variety Box: Two (2) Lust brownies, one (1) Wrath, one (1) Greed. In case you can’t decide.
After you receive shipment, I’ll send an email asking you to rate your buying experience. This will help me in the future to tweak any issues that come up.
The price includes shipping — when these are on the website in October, they’ll be a bit more expensive, with additional shipping costs. So this is a chance to try them out at a discount.
Update: IF YOU DON’T EAT BROWNIES BUT STILL WANT TO HELP: I’ve had a number of people ask if Patrick’s Evil Kidney donations are still being taken. Indeed! Donations of any size can be sent via PayPal to firstname.lastname@example.org. But really, you should get the brownies. They’re pretty great.
Thank you all in advance! You guys are the best people ever.
